- Ideal for raised beds, greenhouses, vegetable gardens or pot plants
- Prevents the soil from clumping with the roots, thereby increasing mineral absorption and making repotting easier
The rice husk ash is very popular as a soil improvement material to increase looseness, while the roots remain free to move and thus do not clump with the soil. The water supply to all areas of the roots also increases the minerals, which can now be better absorbed by the roots. Furthermore, the ash makes the soil well water-absorbent, which means that there are no dry or too wet spots in the earth. Most commonly, the ash is used as planting material, mixed with soil for planting in pots, raised beds and more.
Binds nutrients into the soil
Burnt rice husks have many pores that are large yet light. The use of these pores is very suitable for binding and absorbing nutrients. Nutrients can only be absorbed well if they are not washed away when watering.
Improve soil acidity
Burnt rice husks have a fairly high pH* of around 8.5 to 9.0. This factor is useful for acidic soils to increase the pH* of the soil. In addition, the silica content in burnt rice husks strengthens the leaves, making the leaves more upright and strengthening the plant. * The pH value indicates how acidic or basic e.g. the soil is. The lower the pH, the more acidic; the higher the pH value, the more alkaline the soil is.
Isolates diseases and absorbs toxins
Burnt rice husks are useful as absorbents in suppressing several pathogenic microbes, so they can also isolate diseases and absorb toxins in plants. The silica content can also strengthen the leaves. In experiments, plants given burned rice husks had more upright leaves and were generally healthier.
Preparation of the damaged floor
The condition of the soil can also cause damage, so it needs to be tended to keep it fertile. The provision of burned husk is very beneficial to the soil as it can repair damaged structures in the soil both physically, chemically and biologically.
Keep the floor structure loose
Besides repairing the damaged soil structure, burnt shell is also able to loosen the soil. This is certainly very useful for the planting medium to absorb nutrients properly, maintain moisture around the plant roots and provide enough air and nutrients.
